My Role at OCG Creative

Here at OCG Creative I work as a blog and content writer. Our field strategists send me information about what our clients want, and I produce engaging content whether in blog form, social media or website content. One of my favorite things about working for OCG is that I am constantly learning about the avenues of businesses in Reno, as well as researching specific topics that are related to these companies. I have only been working at OCG for about 8 months now, and as a young writer, OCG allows me to look through a broader scope to see how companies operate. We work with so many local companies, and I am grateful to be exposed to the inner workings of a variety of different livelihoods here. I’ve seen Reno grow so much over the past years, and it is rewarding to be a part of the growth. I am currently finishing my undergraduate studies—with a double major in journalism and French—at the University of Reno, Nevada.

Why I Like Working at OCG

I was presented a great opportunity at OCG through networking around Reno. My first love is writing, so naturally I was ecstatic to be presented an opportunity to get paid to write. It has been a learning process because my studies were not geared totally towards marketing, but it is interesting to start to integrate to such a popular field. In my specific area of writing, there is an allure to digital marketing wherein there is a modern mix of media and writing that must be categorically combined to make an impression. I’ve always been interested in magazine and article writing, but blogging is now the future. OCG has been and continues to be a great place to build my writing skills and portfolio.

My Favorite Thing

Working at OCG the most rewarding thing has been simply being able to write content that actually gets used on a daily basis. Through my work here, along with a writing on a multitude of different subjects, my writing skills are constantly improving, and as a young inspiring writer there’s no better feeling than being able to do what you love for work.

Personal & Business Goals

My goals here at OCG are pretty simple; write content that I think the client will be satisfied with, improve my writing, and make lifelong connections in this realm. This doesn’t mean I want to be applauded just for doing my job, but I set out on every piece I’m writing to make it the best it can be because at the end of the day, what I write is reflecting on the whole company. Improving my writing goes hand in hand with doing my best. If I’m writing my best all the time and continue to be thorough, then there is no reason why I shouldn’t be improving all the while. And if I’m successful with these two, then making connections should come as well.

Outside of Work

Outside of work I’m a big outdoorsman. I grew up here in Reno, so I’ve had about 15 years to explore the surrounding Sierra Mountains. I’ve been lucky to live in a beautiful place that has so much to offer, from the city life in Reno to Lake Tahoe and the mountains. I’ve been on skis since I could walk, I love hiking and backpacking through Northern Nevada and California, and there’s always a new river or lake to explore in the area. I’ve also been fortunate enough to be able to travel. I have family all over the country from Hawaii to the East Coast and in between, and I’m constantly making plans to see one of them. While studying French, I was also able to study and live abroad in France for almost 5 months. It was an experience that I won’t forget, and it will have a lifelong impact on my career.
